Delivering products of consistent quality would be a main concern for manufacturers especially in the food and beverage industries. The process is often complex because there are a lot of variables from the sourced goods, working conditions of both workers and machines up to the delivery of the final products. With the numerous moving parts, a lot could happen and it could be difficult to pinpoint the problem areas.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, KVC successfully supplied a reputable children’s milk manufacturer with a traceability solution that included Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix, PanelView Plus, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager, bar code scanner, and sticker printer. As this manufacturer is constantly committed to the safety and high standards of their products, this solution helps them to continue building on their mission of rigorous safety procedures to maintain the optimal nutrition in their products. The solution also ensures that the safety level is up to their high expectations and if an issue occurs, they can easily trace the issue to the specific batch of raw material and vendors.

The implementation of this Allen-Bradley solution makes it easier to recall the batch of products which are defective or do not meet the needs of parents and their children.  With this traceability solution, the customer will not only have the capability to trace the raw material in terms of supplier and location, but they will also be able to know the quantity of raw material that was used in each batch up to the final product selling location. Moreover, since the customer has two production lines, both lines have been installed with PanelView Plus. The Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix has Ethernet IP capabilities for ease of connectivity. After the completion of the project, the KVC team of experts conducted training to raise the workers’ confidence in operating the new solution.
