New Setup of Surge Protection Devices for Smart City in Puchong

Lightning doesn’t only cause harm to humans but to a building, lightning induced surges can cause damages to the sensitive electrical equipment in a building. To minimize these damages, Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) are installed in buildings.

The expert team from KVC successfully supplied and installed Novaris Surge Diverters and Signal Line Protectors in the control panels of lifts for a smart city in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. KVC understood from the consultant and contractor that the main challenge for this project was that the current system was fully installed and there are space constraint issues in the power distribution and control panel. Novaris has been recommended because of its slim and compact design.

With the installation of these SPDs, the risk of unscheduled downtime is reduced. The Novaris SPD provides powerful protection for main switchboard (MSB) and distribution board (DB) against damages due to lightning induced surges. These Novaris power protection products are housed in a safe, all metal enclosure and even in the event of prolonged overvoltage, they will not catch fire or explode. The vast variety of Novaris SPDs can provide protection for most of the twisted pair signalling schemes which includes Three-Phase (415V) and Single-Phase (240V) power supply, 24VDC signal and communication, and RS485 communication signals which makes these products ideal for the protection of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), fire and security systems, telecommunications and telemetry systems, railway signalling and other industrial monitoring and control equipment.
