XD SOLUTIONS / Detect Fire with Fire Alarm Camera

Video-based fire detection systems are video content analysis systems. They give indications for fires and are designed to supplement fire detection systems and human guards in monitoring centers.

Video-based fire detection systems are confronted with a higher number of challenges considering scenery and background compared to conventional fire detection systems. It cannot be granted that fire is detected in all scenery settings. Thus, the video fire detection system shall be seen as a system that enhances the probability of early fire detection, with the restriction that it might detect false alarms.

The video-based fire detection solution now also be used in tunnels, the paper industry, museums, and other industries. For added risks like combustible materials and high ceilings, Video-based fire detection systems provide faster, more reliable detection than traditional alarm systems.

Customer Challenges:

Conventional fire detection will only alert when the smoke or flame reaches the fire detector where the fire detector is normally installed on the ceiling height. This reflects a lower reaction time and may create damage and huge losses to the company.

False alarm is the most common issue that user face which create disturbance of business operations. Wasting time to investigate the reliability of fire alarm have lower the productivity and effectiveness of the operation.

Conventional fire detection camera unable to perform well in a low lighted environment especially night time. It is challenging for the user to monitor and stay alert on incident happen where the alarm will only notify when smoke or flame reached the fire detector.

XD Solutions: Video-Based Fire Detection (AVIOTEC)

Bosch AVIOTEC was the first solution for video-based fire detection to pass the demanding test procedure of German VdS. It comes with fast and reliable flame and smoke detection. It can detect flames and smoke in an incredibly short time span by analyzing video sequences with its unique Bosch algorithm based on the physical characteristics of fires. The video-based fire detection works under low-light performance and detects test-fires TF1 to TF8.

Bosch AVIOTEC Individually adjustable and adaptable. Verification time, sensitivity, detection size, and selective masking for smoke and flame are individually configurable according to the customer needs. Both flame and smoke detection can be activated or deactivated separately.

Connecting Bosch AVIOTEC camera to a video management system enable the user to find out the cause of fires. Incidents can carefully be established and evaluated by the video recording.

Power for the camera can be supplied via a Power-over-Ethernet compliant network cable connection. With this configuration, only a single cable connection is required to view, power, and control the camera. Using PoE makes installation easier and more cost-effective, as cameras do not require a local power source. Additionally, Bosch AVIOTEC comes with uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) which support continuous operation.

Benefits

Fast flame and smoke detection have to speed up the rescue chain and give insight to the rescue team. The fires can be detected directly at the source of the fire without the need for smoke to reach a fire detector. This can minimize the company losses by shortening the response time when there is an incident happen.

Reliable analysis based on the characteristics of fires also helps to reduce the false alarm and avoid unnecessary interruption in the production. In addition, the Bosch AVIOTEC root cause analysis function helps to eliminate and prevent hazardous situations in the future.

Bosch AVIOTEC is able to monitor the large indoor areas and harsh environments that push the conventional systems to their limits. It is an innovative solution for industry, Transportation, Energy & Utilities as well as warehouses.

With a combination of IR-lighting is a suitable fire protection system to detect fires as they occur even in a dark environment. Other than fire detection, supporting low-lighted performance allowed users to have a clearer view even in a dark environment.
