The number and location of sensors are important to achieve the most reliable detection of flammable gas or vapor. On 15th September 2020, KVC has installed the new MSA Gas Detector Device – Series 47K for a steel production plant company in Nilai.

There are several factors to be considered before installing the sensor where we need to acknowledge the potential sources of a gas leak, the potential sources of ignition, structural arrangements which could allow gas to accumulate and the environmental conditions.

MSA Series 47K Gas Detector are designed to detect potentially hazardous concentrations of flammable gas and vapour in air. It comes with a complete range of accessories for calibration, environmental protection, sampling and duct mounting makes it suitable for virtually all applications in combustible gas detection and a lifetime utilization. On top of that, MSA Series 47K gas sensors offer a cost-effective way to detect hazards. The sensors come in poison resistant and high-temperature versions, and have three- or five-wire connection. Additional accessories are available for environmental protection and a remote/in-situ calibration kit for ease of maintenance.

The MSA Series 47K sensors are performance approved according to EN 60079-29-1 when operated in conjunction with an MSA type approved Controller. They can therefore be used as safety related devices meeting the requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

Parallel to our vision on helping customers to build, operate, optimize and enhance their assets every day, we are proud to offer other permanent gas and flame detector solutions.

SERIES 47K GAS SENSOR

MSA remote sensors, Series 47K, are designed to detect potentially hazardous concentrations of flammable gas and vapor in the air. A cost-effective range of sensors for detecting up to 100 % LEL including Poison Resistant and High-Temperature versions. Series 47K sensors are available with either Ex d – 3/4” NPT or Ex e – M25 junction boxes.

A complete range of accessories for calibration, environmental protection, sampling and duct mounting makes it suitable for virtually all applications in combustible gas detection. Series 47K sensors used in combination with MSA Controllers fully meet the requirements of ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, including performance, and being SIL 2 capable they can be used as part of a safety-related system.

9010/9020 CONTROLLER UNITS

The 9010/9020 SIL controller comes with advanced design and innovative features for monitoring up to 20 channels. The 9010 controller operates with one independent sensor, while the 9020 operates with two independent sensors per control module. Each module comes with an independent AC/DC power supply for increased system reliability. Both units feature full internal diagnostics, which minimize false alarms and unexpected downtime. The controller powers up the remote gas detectors, while its large four-digit LCD and LED provide crucial information such as gas concentration, alarm status and more.

The 9010/9020 LCD controller monitors up to 20 channels and comes with an independent power supply. The LCD version has approvals for FM (North America) and CCCF (China) whereas the 9010/9020 SIL controller is ATEX and  SIL 2 certified.
